On November 26 and 27, 2024, the Cité des Sciences in Paris La Villette welcomed the RDV des Transformations du Droit 2024, an unmissable event for legal and innovation professionals. Bringing together more than 4000 participants in two days, this event is a reference for discovering trends, exchanging ideas and discovering solutions transforming the legal sector, alongside actors in innovation in law (legaltechs...) and professionals (legal departments, lawyers, notaries...) and professionals (legal departments, lawyers, notaries...) and professionals (legal departments, lawyers, notaries...) and professionals (legal departments, lawyers, notaries...).
For AutoLex, a legaltech player specializing in generative AI applied to legal journals, this exhibition was an opportunity to demonstrate how AI can not only alleviate the workload of legal departments, but also redefine their role within companies. With a stand, live demonstrations, and an engaging conference, our participation generated a great deal of interest and enriched discussions about future developments in the law.
A Space for Exchange and Innovation at the Heart of the Show
Located in the heart of the space dedicated to legal technologies, the AutoLex stand was designed to offer an immersive experience to visitors. For two days, lawyers, legal managers and law students were able to discover how our solutions are transforming daily practices thanks to AI.
The demonstrations on the stand highlighted the four main functionalities of our platform:
- Analysis and detection of contractual risks : Thanks to an advanced legal AI engine and training on internal company documents (such as clauses), AutoLex identifies risky clauses and compliance gaps in a few seconds, then suggests improvements.
- Generating clauses : Autolex's ability to propose adapted clauses based on natural language guidelines particularly impressed visitors.
- Answers to questions in natural language : Advanced semantic analysis allows AutoLex to answer users' questions in natural language about the entire content of a contract in order to simplify access to information in record time.
Exchanges with visitors were enriching. Many have expressed their current challenges in terms of contract management, compliance, or workload. These discussions allowed us to better understand their needs and to show them how AutoLex can help them meet these challenges: a big thank you to all visitors.
A highlight: a successful conference
One of the highlights of our participation was the conference led by Benoît Mazzetti, CEO of AutoLex, entitled: ”Generative AI and contract law: will machines soon be able to negotiate with each other?”. This captivated presentation has a varied audience, including lawyers, lawyers, business leaders and technology experts.
Benoît Mazzetti spoke in particular about the current capabilities of generative AI in the legal field and the perspectives it opens up. He demonstrated how AI tools can already simplify a wide range of legal tasks that were previously performed manually. But the central question of his intervention was about the future: will machines one day be able to negotiate directly with each other, without human intervention?
Through concrete examples and use cases, he illustrated how AI could allow automated systems to interact to exchange data, offer alternatives and reach agreements in record time. This vision, although ambitious, also raises ethical and legal questions, in particular on liability in the event of litigation or on the limits to be placed on the autonomy of machines. The exchanges with the public, which followed the presentation, were particularly rich. Many professionals have questioned the impacts of generative AI on their profession, while recognizing its potential to profoundly transform current practices.
An enriching collective experience
Beyond our own participation, the RDV des Transformations du Droit 2024 were an exceptional opportunity to meet other actors and to discuss legal innovations. The workshops, panel discussions, and demonstrations provided an overview of current trends and challenges, whether in terms of regulatory compliance, risk management, or digital transformation. We also appreciated the collaborative atmosphere of the show, where each meeting became an opportunity to learn, share and build partnerships. Our exchanges with start-ups, large companies and law firms have allowed us to strengthen our vision and identify new opportunities to meet the needs of the market!
This show confirmed that AI is no longer an option, but a necessity for legal departments that want to remain competitive. And that's good because available solutions like AutoLex offer concrete advantages:
- Operational efficiency: By automating repetitive tasks such as analyzing or drafting contracts, AI frees lawyers to focus on more strategic missions.
- Cost reduction: By reducing the use of external services or by reducing the time spent on administrative tasks, AI directly contributes to optimizing budgets.
- Strengthening compliance: AutoLex algorithms, trained on millions of open source legal documents, guarantee reliable risk detection and increased compliance with current regulations.
However, the adoption of these technologies requires a cultural transformation within organizations. Legal departments must not only integrate these tools, but also train their teams to get the most out of them!
Thanks and perspectives...
We would like to warmly thank the organizers of the RDV des Transformations du Droit for the exceptional quality of the event. Their commitment to bringing together legal innovation actors in such an inspiring setting is a driver for the entire sector. A huge thank you also to the visitors to our stand, to the participants of our conference and to everyone who shared their ideas and feedback. These exchanges fuel our desire to innovate and push the limits of what AI can achieve for lawyers. We remain determined to support legal departments in their transformation, by providing them with a powerful tool that is simple to use and adapted to their contractual needs.
The RDV des Transformations du Droit 2024 showed that the future of legal departments involves artificial intelligence. But beyond technology, it's about vision and collaboration. Together, we can transform legal practices to make them more agile, more reliable, and more strategic!
